For the international launch events
of
Aesop's
new fragrance HWYL, Unfold was commissioned to design and
produce a set of 3d printed ceramic perfume diffusers.
Created by
Barnabé
Fillion & Dr. Kate Forbes, HWYL is an intriguing
fragrance with a hint of eccentricity, reminiscent of the ancient
Japanese Hinoki forests. Smoky notes descend into subtle spice and
dark green, earthy accords.
Taking cues from the scent's olfactory inspiration and natural
narrative, Unfold 3d-scanned a series of river stones whose
geometry served as the outside skin for the diffusers. Split in the
middle they reveal a mysterious geometrical graphic pattern storing
the scent as a memory.
3D printed in black stoneware clay using Unfold's
latest
ceramic 3d
printer developed in collaboration with
Viscotec.
